Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, he is a true kid at heart. He has a love of running and a love of good coffee. Lewis grew up curious about church and often attended Sunday school and VBS programs with friends. He came into faith as a young adult and loved finding ways to serve at church; helping with youth fundraisers, Sunday school, VBS and short-term missions.
Born in Saint Joseph, Michigan, Jessica has grown up in the church her entire life. She accepted Christ at an early age and continues to glorify his name by serving youth in Sunday school, through her work with a dance worship group and through her service as office manager at Trinity Lutheran School in St. Joseph, MI.
We are proof that cheesy pickup lines can actually work. We met in the spring of 2001 as Jessica was preparing to go off to college. We continued to stay in touch, eventually began dating, and three and a half years later were married.
We have three very gifted and strong-willed boys; Caeleb, Micah, and Joseph. God has blessed them each with creativity, unique personalities, and hearts for Jesus.
In one way or another we had always felt a call to serve. Our family started off as a military family as Lewis served five and a half years in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, TX, along with two tours to Iraq. It was during this period that we found a new home at Christian Life Church in Killeen, TX and grew spiritually; learning to lean on and trust God in all instances. As our family continued to grow and later transition back into civilian life, Lewis went to school to finish out his degree in elementary education, while Jessica began her career as an office manager in local Christian school back home. During this time we served in local missions, as Sunday school teachers and as VBS game leaders at our home church, The Chapel. Upon graduation we were presented with several opportunities to serve in short-term missions together at Word of Life Hungary. Shortly after we began exploring the prospect of what fulltime mission work would look like for our family. After completing the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course, we knew that we had to respond to a calling we had felt for some time. In May of 2015 we were accepted as staff with ReachGlobal; the mission of the Evangelical Free Church. In April of 2016 we were able to conduct a family vision trip to confirm our call to Bucharest Christian Academy (BCA) in Romania.
We plan to serve at BCA beginning in August 2017 and are currently in the process of developing ministry partners to join us in this journey.
